As host and executive producer of Ellie’s Real Good Food on public television, and well known from her hit Food Network show Healthy Appetite, Ellie Krieger is a leading go-to nutritionist in the media today, helping people find the sweet spot where “delicious” and “healthy” meet.
Krieger’s success can be attributed to her accessible way of offering tools for nurturing a richly satisfying, sumptuous lifestyle while cutting through the gimmicks, hype and extreme eating.
A registered dietitian, Ellie earned a master’s degree in clinical nutrition from Teacher’s College, Columbia University and completed her undergraduate degree at Cornell University. She served as an adjunct professor at New York University in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health. In her years in private practice, she counseled a variety of clients, from homemakers and CEOs to notable celebrities.
Her 2005 book Small Changes Big Results shared easy-to-live-with habit changes that yield optimal results. Ellie’s second book, The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life was an immediate New York Times best-seller, peaking at #2 on that list. It also won the 2009 International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP) Cookbook award and the esteemed 2009 James Beard Foundation Award for “Best Cookbook with a Healthy Focus.”
In her 2016 release, You Have It Made: Delicious, Healthy, Do-Ahead Meals, Ellie shares more than 140 make-ahead recipes designed to help readers eat three nutritious meals a day.
She has appeared as a guest expert on dozens of national television programs, including The Today Show, Good Morning America, The CBS Early Show, CNN, ABC News Now and Dr. Oz.
She finds happiness living with her husband and daughter in New York City.
