Boston (May 20, 2008) – Create™ TV brings America’s favorite how-to, gardening, lifestyle and cooking shows to viewers nationwide this summer. The channel, a unique destination for many of television’s highest-rated lifestyle series, will present a new summer schedule that features some of public television’s favorite personalities, including the iconic chef Julia Child, grill-master Steven Raichlen and the renowned world traveler Rudy Maxa.
Julia Child, the “queen of cooking television,” continues to enthrall enthusiasts with her timeless kitchen counsel. One of her most memorable series, Baking with Julia, makes its Create TV premiere in June. This classic series features indispensable techniques, time-honored tips and meticulously tested recipes from Julia and the country’s best pastry chefs, bakers, teachers and cookbook authors.
Grab some burgers and hot dogs and don’t skimp on the lighter fluid for Primal Grill with Steven Raichlen. Raichlen, author of Barbecue Bible and How to Grill and host of the popular public television series Barbecue University, returns to Create TV with this new series that teaches viewers how to boost their barbecue to new levels.
Viewers will depart on armchair globe-trotting adventures with world traveler Rudy Maxa in Rudy Maxa's World. After five highly successful seasons of travel shows featuring the best destinations of Europe and the Pacific Rim, Rudy broadens his horizons in this new series, venturing to Russia, Estonia, Turkey, India, Japan, Argentina and Thailand. Rudy offers up his sophisticated take on each destination’s history, culture, architecture, politics and cuisine, while also turning a journalistic eye to the people and lifestyles that make up these unique cultures.
New food experts join Create TV as Martha Stewart’s award-winning magazine comes to life with Everyday Food, premiering on the channel in June. This absorbing series—hosted by an ensemble cast of the magazine’s talented food editors, cooks and recipe developers—showcases delicious, easy-to-make dishes perfect for the busy home cook.
Joining Create TV’s well-known gardening programs this summer is GardenStory with host Rebecca Frischkorn. Teamed with leading garden designers, horticulturists and environmentalists, this series will present compelling and informative stories about gardens and their creators. Each of the episodes focuses on the diversity of gardens, the power of gardens to prompt positive social change and the need for stewardship of the natural world.
Nearly 180 public television stations – representing 71% of U.S. TV households – carry Create TV nationwide. Create is produced and distributed by American Public Television (APT), Thirteen/WNET and WGBH Boston in association with NETA and PBS.
